The Congress on Tuesday raised objections over the use of the Campa (Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority) funds.

Around Rs 1,484 crore given by the Centre to the state as CAMPA funds in 2019 “remained unutilised in 2020-21 and 2021-22,” the party said.

The CAMPA funds are meant to promote afforestation and regeneration activities as a way of compensating for forest land diverted for non-forest uses.

The Indian Express last month reported 180 hectares of forest land in Gujarat have been diverted to industries in 2021 and 2022.
