The Ahmedabad police detained nine women,who were allegedly protesting against bad roads in Maninagar area of Ahmedabad,on Saturday.
The protest was called by the Gujarat Parivartan Party a day earlier. The agitation began in the morning. According to the police,they had to intervene because the protest was going out of control,with women blocking roads and shouting anti-government slogans. Protesters,who were wearing GPPs scarf around their neck,claimed that they were stopped by policemen. When they allegedly objected to this,policewomen were brought in. They detained women were freed after 5 pm,they said.
