‘700 pilgrims from Surat still trapped’

Over 700 pilgrims from Surat are believed to be trapped in Uttrakhand,official sources said Thursday.

Over 700 pilgrims from Surat are believed to be trapped in Uttrakhand,official sources said Thursday. Meanwhile,a female resident of Adajan locality of the city died after she fell into a flooded stream and drowned. The deceased was identified as Chhaya Pandya (57),who had left for Kedarnath Yatra with her husband Rasesh Pandya on June 8. The incident happened when the couple,after completing their yatra,had put up at the Pashupatinath base camp near Kedarnath due to the deteriorating weather conditions. The woman fell into a stream when she stepped out of the camp to wash her hands after dinner.

Meanwhile,40 pilgrims,who had gone for the pilgrimage through the Guru Krupa travels in Surat,are stranded in North Kashi area,said Surat district administrative officials. Over 724 pilgrims from Surat had left for Kedarnath through private tour operators.
