As many as 39 villages were put on flood alert after authorities released one lakh cubic metre per second (cusec) water from Kadana dam situated on river Mahi in the Panchmahals district. Alert was issued for villages situated in Vadodara,Padra and Savli talukas in Vadodara district. Villages situated on the bank of the Mahi river have been put on alert as a large volume of water was released from Kadana dam in the Panchmahals district, a Vadodara district collectorate official said. Vadodara also rose sharply due to heavy rains,leading to overflow of water. Water level of Ajwa lake had crossed 211.25 feet on Friday. Water level in Vishwamitri river,running through Vadodara city,also rose sharply as rain continued.
