Three youths were killed and three others injured when their car collided with a truck in Sutrapada taluka of Gir-Somnath district on Wednesday.
The car, in which the youths were travelling, collided with a truck coming from opposite direction while they tried to overtake a vehicle near Prasli village of Sutrapada taluka around 10:30 am, police said. After the collision, the car turned turtle and seriously injured six persons. “The injured were rushed to a hospital in Kodiar town where three of them died. The remaining three have been referred to Junagadh for further treatment. Their condition is reported to be out of danger,” Sutrapada police inspector Ramesh Jadav said.
The dead were identified as Jahur Tavani (19), Altaf Kadirani (16) and Samir Shahmadar (16), all residents of Sidokar village of Veraval taluka in Gir Somnath. Police said Tharis Yunus, Shehjad Alarakha and Praful were injured. “The victims were on their way to Una to take an examination of the Industrial Training Institute when they met with the accident. The driver of the truck managed to run away after the collision,” the PSI further added.
