3 killed in Vadodara accident
Two persons from the same family and the driver of the autorickshaw were among those killed.
Three persons were killed and four others sustained injuries when an autorickshaw they were travelling was hit by a speeding Marcedes-Benz SUV in Vadodara on Thursday night.
The injured were being treated at the civil hospital. The driver of the SUV, Nimish Patel, was identified as the proprietor of a pharmaceutical unit -Base Pharmaceuticals – who initially escaped the scene of the accident fearing mob backlash but later surrendered himself to the police by Friday afternoon.
He escaped with minor injury on his hand. The incident took place on a crossroads on the new VIP road near city’s Kishanwadi locality. The three deceased breathed their last after being brought to the SSG Hospital for treatment. Police said that seven people were travelling on a hired autorickshaw after attending a wedding ceremony on Thursday night and were on their way from Kishanwadi locality to Ranchhodnagar, when the accident.
