3 Cong men held for disrupting govt meet

The Vastrapur police arrested three Congress workers on Sunday for allegedly disrupting the state government’s official press conference on Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s Japan visit a day earlier in Ahmedabad.

According to the police,security in-charge of JMDC ground Shayamsinh R Rathod lodged a complaint against about two dozen persons who allegedly disrupted the conference by shouting slogans while posing as mediapersons.

Police said the persons,identified as Suresh D Thakkar,Dinesh Thakkar alias Pappu and Ishwar Desai (all Congress workers),were arrested based on the video footage captured during the disruption.

Police said an FIR was lodged late on Saturday night against unidentified persons who are now being identified through video footage.

Inspector of Vastrapur police station A K Sharma said the trio who are from the Congress party has been arrested under various sections of Indian Penal Code.

On Saturday,Principal Secretary (industries) Maheshwar Sahu was addressing the conference along with various industrialists who accompanied CM on his Japan’s visit last week.

At the same time,about two dozen persons posing as newsmen entered the conference hall at JMDC ground and shouted slogans. They were members of Congress farmers’ cell.
