3 booked for ‘hurting religious sentiments’ in Instagram video

Sachin GIDC police inspector JR Chaudhary told The Indian Express, “We have registered a complaint and initiated a probe. In the video, three youths can be seen making communal remarks against the Hindu religion. At present, these accused have not been identified. We are taking the help of the technical staff to identify them. We hope to nab them soon.” The youth also made abusive comments against the cow, as per the FIR, to hurt religious sentiments of Hindus.

The video was said to be shared by VHP member Raj Dubey on the Whatsapp group. Fenil said he filed the complaint after informing Surat VHP president Nilesh Akbari.

The complaint has been filed under IPC sections 295 (1) (Deliberate and malicious act, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs), 298 (uttering words, with deliberate intent to wound the religious feelings), and 114 (Abettor present when offence is committed) and Section 67 of the IT Act
