Infighting within the Mehsana District Congress has led to resignation of 17 councillors of the Mehsana Municipality from their councillorship. They have sent their resignation letters to Mehsana District Congress Committee (MDCC) president Kirtisinh Zala.
The councillors having resigned from their posts in the municipality belong to Jaideepsinh Dabhi group, opposed to municipality president Nimishaben A Patel.
MDCC president Kirtisinh Zala said: “There are some differences between the two groups. But we will sort it out amicably.”
Asked if the these councillors might join BJP, Zala said: “There is no question of them crossing over to BJP. They have resigned from their posts in the municipality, not from the party.”
