1 killed, another feared dead in gas leak at Narol industry

A woman worker lost her life while another was feared dead following a gas leak at a factory in Narol Industrial Area here Saturday. Two others were critically injured in the accident at Omkar Intermediates, fire brigage officials said.

Neelam Parmar, 22, a resident of Danilimda area, was declared brought dead by V S Hospital doctors. The two injured also have been admitted to the same hospital and their condition is stated to be critical.

One Moti Ram, a boy from Uttar Pradesh who is believed to have been taken away by some unidentified persons from the accident site, is also feared dead, said Chief Fire Office M F Dastoor, citing eye-witnesses.

However, Moti Ram’s death cannot be confirmed as his whereabouts are yet to be known, said Dastoor. The police and other agencies are investigating the incident.

Dastoor said: “The factory has since been sealed and samples have been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory for testing while Gujarat Pollution Control Board has been informed.”
