The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh will hold a competition amongst Market Welfare Associations for Swachh Markets and Wards in the city. The survey will be conducted amongst Market Welfare Association and Wards from second week of November. The results will be declared by the end of same month.
A meeting was held in this regard at MC office on Tuesday in which nearly 42 representatives of various Market Welfare Association were present. Mayor Asha Jaswal, Jitender Yadav, Commissioner, MCC, councillors and other officers were also present in the meeting.
While addressing the representatives of Market Welfare Associations, Jaswal said that Swachh Sarvekshan 2018 will be conducted from January 4, 2018, onwards where ranking of Swachh Markets and Wards is one of the key parameters of ranking so as to create a sense of competition for cleanliness amongst registered Market Welfare Associations and Wards of the city. She said that the members of Associations should keep extra vigil regarding Swachhata in their markets.
During the meeting, the commissioner appraised that as per parameters given by Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, the cleanliness of each market and ward shall be checked and awarded. The marks will be given on criteria comprising general cleanliness, toilets, waste management, awareness, innovation practice while wards shall be assessed on criteria’s like waste collection, processing of waste, cleanliness, awareness and innovative practices.
