Now get Chandigarh power bills and consumption details on DigiLocker

Chandigarh Power Distribution Limited (CPDL) has also established a laboratory in Sector 56 to get electricity meters tested.

Chandigarh power billsBefore CPDL took over the electricity distribution system, consumers were required to visit the sub-divisional office and an e-Sampark Centre and pay Rs 35 to obtain a duplicate bill.

Chandigarh residents can now get not just duplicate power bills but also details of their power consumption on the DigiLocker app and website, thanks to a new consumer-friendly service launched by Chandigarh Power Distribution Limited (CPDL).

By following the guidelines and providing their 14-digit account number, consumers can instantly download their electricity bills. Earlier, consumers could receive duplicate bills via WhatsApp or download them free of cost from CPDL’s official website, http://www.chandigarhpower.com.

Highlighting the initiative, Arun Kumar Verma, Director, CPDL, said, “We want to ensure consumers have the convenience of downloading bills through multiple platforms.” Before CPDL took over the electricity distribution system, consumers were required to visit the sub-divisional office and an e-Sampark Centre and pay Rs 35 to obtain a duplicate bill. CPDL has made this service completely free, further easing the process for consumers.

A private firm has taken over Chandigarh’s power department. However, the Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission (JERC) will continue to oversee the determination of consumer tariffs, ensuring transparency and fairness in pricing.

The CPDL website now allows Chandigarh residents to check their previous bills and track their past power consumption. Officials stated that the data has been displayed in an easy-to-understand graphical format, enabling consumers to compare their usage and bills effortlessly.

A meter-testing laboratory

Also, CPDL recently established a laboratory at the sub-station in Sector 56 to get electricity meters tested. Officials said the primary objective of setting up the facility is to ensure that every electricity meter provided to consumers meets accuracy standards.
