The first witness, who is also the complainant in the Rs 40 lakh Graft Case. on Thursday, identified the two businessmen, arrested in connection with the case, in the Court of Dr Sushil Kumar Garg, Additional District and Sessions Court, Chandigarh.

The businessmen, Aman Grover and Sanjay Dahuja, RC Meena, former DSP Economic Offences Wing (EOW) , and a Sub-Inspector, Surinder Kumar (now dead) were arrested four years ago by the CBI. The complainant, Guneet Kaur Chawla, however stated that she has never met R C Meena.

The court conditionally allowed the application of Dahuja for moving abroad from December 10- December 16, if he furnishes bail bond of Rs 50 lakh in the court. Dahuja till Thursday had not furnished the bail bonds.

In 2015, Guneet Kaur had alleged that EOW officials were demanding Rs 40 lakh for settling a case involving her father, mother and brother, and for not arresting his father GS Chawla. The CBI had then laid a trap in August 2015 and arrested R C Meena along with Surinder Kumar from the EOW office at Sector 17. The CBI had also arrested Aman Grover, owner of KLG Hotel and Sanjay Dahuja, owner of Berkeley Automobiles for allegedly accepting the bribe for R C Meena and Surinder Kumar.

Guneet Chawla stated that her father Gurkirpal Singh, runs petrol pumps and restaurants and brother Hamrit Singh Chawla runs a real estate business in Punjab and mother Jagjit Kaur is a house wife. Kaur then stated about the FIR registered against her father, mother, and her brother, Gurcharan Singh Bhatti (her brother’s father in law), and Sarabjit Singh Sekhon (friend of GS Bhatti), on the complaint of Deepa Duggal, while a cross FIR was registered against Duggal in May 2015 in EOW office, which was under investigation by accused Surinder Kumar and under the supervision of R C Meena.

Kaur stated that on August 7, 2015, SI Surinder arrested GS Bhatti and Sekhon, to put pressure on her parents who were hiding from the arrest. She then through her Uncle MPS Chawla, came in contact of Dahuja, who knew R C Meena and requested Dahuja to talk to Meena as when they produce Bhatti and Sekhon in court they don’t seek police remand and also not to oppose both of their bail plea as they are innocent. She then met Aman Grover (friend of Dahuja and also son in law of Duggal). Meanwhile, later in court Bhatti and Sekhon were granted bail as it was not opposed by SI. However, on August 10, 2015, a meeting was organised at Dahuja’s office with MPS Chawla, accused Grover and Dahuja, where Dahuja told that there would be a three way settlement in this case.

“Accused Sanjay Dahuja said that the third party involved is my sister’s father in law Kirandeep Singh Swani who through his lawyer Bunny Takkar had contacted accused Sanjay Dahuja and Aman Grover and high up officers of UT Police are involved in getting my parents and brother arrested”, read the statement of Guneet Kaur.
