A Cheetah helicopter of Army Aviation Corps made force landing at a post in Siachen Glacier Thursday morning resulting in damage. However, crew of the helicopter has reportedly suffered no injuries.
Army sources confirmed that the incident took place at 11.30 am Thursday morning in the Central area of Siachen Glacier.
“There was a sudden change of weather due to which the Helicopter had to make a forced landing. Some damage has been suffered in the process but the crew is safe,” an Army officer said.
In 2017, the then GOC of the Corps in Ladakh had a narrow escape when the chopper carrying him crashed in Eastern Ladakh. Lt Gen SK Upadhyay was onboard the Dhruv Advanced Light Helicopter of the Army.
