IndiGo’s shares jumped in early trade on Tuesday to hit its 52-week high after the company on Monday placed the largest-ever order in aviation history.

The stock of InterGlobe Aviation Ltd, the parent company of IndiGo, jumped 10 per cent at open to touch its 52-week high of Rs 2,499.95 on BSE.

India’s largest airline IndiGo on Monday announced that it has placed a mega aircraft order for 500 Airbus A320neo family planes. With this, the airline has dwarfed Air India’s order for 470 Airbus and Boeing planes in February.

IndiGo signed the purchase agreement for the aircraft at the Paris Air Show.

The domestic carrier in a statement to the exchanges said, “This will provide IndiGo a further steady stream of deliveries between 2030 and 2035… The engine selection for this order will be done in due course and so will be the exact mix of A320 and A321 aircraft.”
