Sensex slips 115 points on the last day of FY22; registers over 18% gain during the year

Share market: The S&P BSE Sensex fell 115.48 points (0.20 per cent) to end at 58,568.51 while the Nifty 50 slipped 33.50 points (0.19 per cent) to settle at 17,464.75. During the financial year 2021-22 (FY22), the Sensex registered a gain of 18.30 per cent while the broader Nifty witnessed an 18.88 per cent jump.

The benchmark equity indices on the BSE and National Stock Exchange (NSE) ended 0.2 per cent lower on the last day of the financial year 2021-22 (FY22) weighed by market heavyweight Reliance Industries (RIL).

The S&P BSE Sensex fell 115.48 points (0.20 per cent) to end at 58,568.51 while the Nifty 50 slipped 33.50 points (0.19 per cent) to settle at 17,464.75 following a choppy session due to the expiry of March derivatives contracts. During FY22, the Sensex registered a gain of 18.30 per cent while the broader Nifty witnessed an 18.88 per cent jump.

Among the best performers of FY22 were Bajaj Finserv (up 76.38 per cent), Titan Company (up 62.85 per cent), Tata Steel (up 60.98 per cent), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (up 53.71 per cent) and Tech Mahindra (up 51.25 per cent). On the other hand, Hindustan Unilever (down 15.71 per cent), Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories (down 4.65 per cent), Housing Development Finance Corporation (down 4.41 per cent), UltraTech Cement (down 2.04 per cent) and IndusInd Bank (down 1.98 per cent) were the laggards of the fiscal year.
