GST Bill passed unanimously in Lok Sabha

The earlier bill which was passed in 2015 in Lok Sabha was finally passed in Rajya Sabha last week months after Opposition parties led by Congress demanded certain changes in the bill.

The amendments to the Goods and Services Tax bill were cleared by the Lok Sabha unanimously on Monday. The earlier bill which was passed in 2015 in Lok Sabha was finally passed in Rajya Sabha last week months after Opposition parties led by Congress demanded certain changes in the bill.

Ahead of the current Monsoon session, BJP approached the Opposition parties to ask for their cooperation in passing the bill in the Upper House. It was then passed with a full majority.

In total, nine changes were made to the bill and it was passed in Rajya Sabha on Wednesday.
