To boost its fashion category, online retailer Snapdeal on Monday announced the launch of The Designer Studio in association with the Fashion Design Council of India. The e-tailer claims that the segment has been growing 30% month-on-month.
The Designer Studio aims to offer premium design wear to online shoppers. The initiative will not only include ready-to-wear and made-to-order clothing collections, but also build consumer engagement by presenting the complete achievement timeline of each participating designer. Designers like Manish Arora, Malini Ramani, Ashish N Soni, Varun Bahl and Samant Chauhan will showcase their creations while many more are expected to be onboarded over three months.
Amit Maheshwari, Vice President- Fashion at Snapdeal, said: “We are sure that FDCI’s leadership and expertise in fashion design and Snapdeal’s vision for fashion business will create the largest platform for the design community in India, to sell online. With the launch of The Designer Studio, we aim to provide access to exclusive and premium designer creations to our customers, meet their aspirations and help improve availability, especially in tier II cities.”
Snapdeal expects sales of Rs 6,000 crore from the fashion category by next fiscal, the company said. The Designer Studio will be a step forward in this direction, with an aim to rope in national and international designers by launching their exclusive range on Snapdeal. The e-tailer also plans to focus on new talent by tying up with emerging designers.
