Two-wheeler automobile manufacturer Bajaj Auto launched the much-awaited Chetak in its new electric avatar. The company has priced its new electric scooter starting from Rs 1 lakh.
The bookings of the new Chetak will begin from January 15 and the deliveries will commence by the end of February, the company said in a statement reported by PTI. The new Chetak will be initially available in Bengaluru and Pune.
The company had initially unveiled the new Chetak back in October last year.
The automaker has announced two variants of the Chetak – Urbane and Premium. The Chetak Urbane will come with drum brakes and will be priced at Rs 1 lakh (ex-showroom), while the Chetak Premium will feature disk brakes and will be sold at Rs 1.15 lakh (ex-showroom).
In addition to this, the customers will also get a home-charging station.
“From January 15 onwards Chetak will be available in two cities and this will mark the commencement of a new era in two-wheeler mobility,” news agency PTI reported quoting Rakesh Sharma, Executive Director of Bajaj Auto.
The customers who wish to book the Chetak electric scooter will be able to do so by heading to the product’s designated website http://www.chetak.com and paying a sum of Rs 2,000, the company informed.
The company said the new scooter will be coming with a warranty of three years or 50,000 kilometres (whichever is earlier) which also includes the Lithium-Ion battery.
Bajaj Auto said that the Chetak electric scooter will need servicing in a span of one year or 12,000 kilometres (whichever occurs earlier).
“Our objective is to provide an attractive and viable option to commuters with different needs and expectations through the Chetak range. To achieve this, we have offered a highly advanced and elegant looking electric scooter at an affordable price,” Sharma said at the launch event.
