The next set of reforms for the telecom sector, set to be announced before the quarter ends in June, is likely to further ease the norm on allowing foreign companies to start telecom services in India. This will be over and above the 100 per cent foreign direct investment (FDI) allowed through the automatic route, sources in know of the development said.

One of the major changes, an official said, will be allowing these foreign companies to come and start operations in India without them needing to tie up with an Indian company to bid for and retain spectrum bought in auctions.
