Molson Coors Cobra brings ‘Carling’ beer to India

The company will be importing the beer from its distillery from UK.

Molson Coors Cobra has launched British beer Carling in India on Friday. The beer, aimed at the premium segment, comes from the same group which markets King Cobra and Iceberg 9000 primarily in the North Indian states.

Kandy Anand, president of Molson Coors International said the drink will be launched in five regions including Delhi and Goa which account for 90 per cent of the market for beer in India.

The beer which claims a legacy of 170 years is the number one lager brand in the UK markets. The company will be importing the beer from its distillery there. Molson Coors Cobra is the Joint Venture between Molson Coors International and Cobra Beer Indian Pvt. Limited. India is one of the largest beer markets in the Asia-Pacific region by volume. In 2013 consumption reached over 20 million
hectolitres.

Within this the premium beer category is among the fastest growing segments rising by 49 per cent last year.
