With an aim to “fully secure the country’s cyber space”, the government has initiated the process to set up a National Cyber Security Coordination Centre (NCCC), Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ravi Shankar Prasad said on Thursday, while addressing the Regional Editors Conference in Chennai.

“The government is fully aware of the possible threats to country’s cyber security and … NCCC will ensure near real time threat assessment and situational awareness that will help in analysis and generation of timely alerts and periodic reports,” Prasad said, according to an official statement.

He added that National Cyber Security Coordination Centre Project was approved for implementation and technical approach and implementation plan has been prepared.

He also said that a “massive training programme” would be undertaken to train the police officers and personnel at police stations across the country.

Apart from the police, the other organs of the government including the judicial officers will be sensitised adequately on this issue.
