Bharat Petroleum to invest Rs 1 lakh cr over next 5 years

According to R Varadarajan, chairman and managing director, Bharat Petroleum Corp Ltd, the company will increase the company’s refining capacity by 40 per cent.

The public sector is taking the lead in kickstarting investments in the country. Bharat Petroleum Corp Ltd (BPCL) has announced it will be investing a total of Rs 1,00,000 crore in the next five years for expansion and consolidation of its businesses.

According to R Varadarajan, chairman and managing director, Bharat Petroleum Corp Ltd, the company will increase the company’s refining capacity by 40 per cent, branch out into the petrochemicals sector and expand in the city gas distribution business, thus establishing itself as an oil and gas explorer and producer.

“Bharat Petroleum Corp Ltd has launched Project Sankalp, wherein ideas put forth by the employees across all levels and disciplines in the organisation and validated by the senior management have been converted into actionable projects focusing on infrastructure development, customer centricity, alternate and renewable energy, research & development, beyond fuel, international opportunities and safety aspects,” he said.
