A SpiceJet aircraft (File)An aircraft of SpiceJet (Flight no SG 3324) flying from Kandla in Gujarat made a priority landing in Mumbai Tuesday after its windshield cracked at 23,000 feet altitude, said a SpiceJet spokesperson.
“During the flight, the SpiceJet Q400 (Kandla-Mumbai sector), the P2 side windshield outer pane cracked and at the same time, pressurisation was observed to be normal. However, the aircraft landed safely in Mumbai,” said the spokesperson.
In another incident the same day, another flight of SpiceJet from Delhi to Dubai had to be diverted to Karachi in Pakistan after the crew observed unusual fuel quantity reduction from the left tank. Arun Kumar, Director General of Civil Aviation said the crew in the Dubai-bound flight (B737-8 Max aircraft VT-MXG) carried out a relevant non-normal checklist.
“However the fuel quantity kept on decreasing. The pilot in command decided to divert the aircraft to Karachi in Pakistan. No emergency was declared. During post-flight inspection, no visual leak has been observed from the left main tank,” the officer said.

The SpiceJet spokesperson said that the flight was diverted to Karachi due to an indicator light malfunctioning. A probe has been launched into the incident.
“The aircraft landed safely at Karachi, and passengers were safely disembarked. There was no earlier report of any malfunction with the aircraft. Passengers have been served refreshments. A replacement aircraft is being sent to Karachi that will take the passengers to Dubai,” said the spokesperson.
