The launch of the highlyanticipated compact sedan Ford Aspire is just around the corner and the carmaker has started accepting bookings for the same. The Ford Figo based Aspire concept model was first showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo.
To promote the upcoming compact sedan, the American car manufacture has also organised ‘What Drives You’ campaign across the country. Not just this, the Ford Aspire is currently on a country wide tour that will conclude in July. Soon after this, the company will launch the Ford Aspire in India.
Coming to the powertrain options, the Ford Aspire will come powered by a 1.2litre petrol engine that will be paired with a fivespeed manual and sixspeed, dualclutch gearbox. The diesel variants, on the other hand, will come powered by a 1.5litre, common rail, turbo diesel mill mated with a fivespeed manual transmission. The 1.5litre diesel engine also powers the Fiesta sedan and the EcoSport SUV in the country. Although the power figures are not yet disclosed, it will be revealed during the launch of the compact sedan.
The Ford Aspire will set a new benchmark in its segment and will come loaded with a lot of features, says the car manufacturer. It will come equipped with satellite navigation system, SYNC AppLink, voice activated system, multifunction steering wheel, electrically adjustable outside rearview mirrors, leather seats, automatic airconditioning, keyless entry, six airbags, ABS and EBD.
The upcoming Ford Aspire will be produced at the company’s Sanand plant in Gujarat and is expected to be priced between Rs. 5.2 Rs. 8 lakh, ex-showroom. The compact sedan will compete against the likes of Tata Zest, Hyundai Xcent, Maruti Suzuki DZire and Honda Amaze in the segment and is likely to hit the roads in August 2015.
