After having a phenomenal 2014, Mercedes in India is looking forward to continue the momentum through 2015 as well. The company started off this year with the launch of the new CLA-Class sedan and will soon introduce the new C-Class diesel here as well. While Mercedes has already confirmed that there will be an onslaught of new models in 2015, it is simultaneously working on its expansion strategy by opening new dealership networks in the country.

As part of its ‘15 in 15’ strategy, the latest Mercedes-Benz showroom to come into action is Tristar Motors in Jamshedpur. The Tristar dealership is the first luxury car dealership in Jamshedpur. Built over a time span of 15 months, the new dealership is spread over 40,000 square feet and features a 9 car display area along with a customer lounge and Cafe Mercedes. The service department is also located in the facility and incorporates 12 service bays and a staff of 25 experienced personals.

Speaking on the occasion, Eberhard Kern, Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India commented, “Our qualitative network expansion strategy is intrinsic to our growth story as we continue to reach out to new customers and provide them the best luxury automotive experience. Our customer oriented approach ensures that we continuously fascinate owners with the Mercedes-Benz experience while they purchase their coveted Three Pointed Star.”

The addition of the Jamshedpur dealership makes the Mercedes’ dealer network count stand at 69 outlets in 38 cities in India. By year end, Mercedes plans to expand its presence by increasing the network to 80 outlets across the country. Mercedes recorded an increase of 13.6 per cent in its yearly sales as it sold more than 10,000 cars in 2014. With an annual sales figure of 10,201 units last year, Mercedes was hard on the heels of Audi, which is currently the best-selling luxury car brand in India as it sold 10,851 units in 2014. The sales difference between the two brands is thinning out rapidly and with new models coming in one after the other from both the camps, the battle to become numero uno in the luxury car segment is certainly getting interesting.
