Mercedes-Benz India is all set to launch its new limousine called Mercedes-Benz S600 Guard in India on 21st May, 2015. Based on the current generation S-Class, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class S600 Guard or the Pullman S-Class, is a completely armoured luxury vehicle with high level of protection for all the occupants.
The outer body shell of the Pullman S-Class comes equipped with VR9-level ballistic protection as per the BRV 2009 guidelines as it is said to have the highest rating offered ever in a civilian passenger armoured car.
The company has also equipped the new S600 Guard with a protective compound made of special steel in various hollow space in the vehicle’s body frame and outer body shell.
The car also has heat-resistance synthetic fibres along with other safety equipment like an automatic fire suspension system, emergency fresh air system during any smoke or fire and hydraulic actuated side windows. The windows are operated with the help of the hydraulic system due to its heavy weight.
Besides this, the windows are coated with thick lamination glass with polycarbonate coating for the safety of the passengers during gun fire. Moreover, the chassis of the S600 Guard is also fully equipped with all the safety features to save occupants from any explosive devices.
Inside the cabin, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class S Guard features an optional four or a five-seating configuration. It also features all the standard safety and luxury features that are being offered in the current generation Mercedes-Benz S-Class in the country.
The fully armoured Mercedes-Benz S-Class S600 Guard run on a powerful 6.0-litre, V12 petrol motor that makes an impressive 545.5bhp of maximum power output and churns out a peak torque of 830Nm. The engine is mated with the same 7G-TRONIC automatic transmission that sends power to all four wheels via the company’s 4MATIC system.
It has an electronically limited top speed of 210kmph, as the vehicles cannot run fast due to its heavy body. The manufacturer has offered AIRMATIC suspension which are beefier and stiffer, along with reinforced dampers.
