Maruti Suzuki India has been testing the highly-anticipated S-Cross in the country for quite some time now and it indicated that the launch of the SUV is just around the corner.
The pre-orders for the upcoming Maruti Suzuki S-Cross has started across the company’s dealerships in the country. Moreover, the carmaker has also commenced the production of the S-Cross at its Gurgaon plant.
According to many spy images that have surfaced the internet, the new S-Cross will come loaded with features. On the exteriors, it will get new dual-slat front chrome grille, multifunction steering wheel, new set of 16-inch alloy wheels, etc. On the other hand, the cabin will be completemented by automatic climate control, rear air-conditioner vents and a new touchscreen Maruti SmartPlay infotainment system. On the safety front, the car will come with ABS, EBD and airbags.
The Fiat-sourced 1.3-litre and 1.6-litre Multijet diesel engines will power the upcoming model. While the 1.3-litre diesel motor makes 91.3PS of maximum power, the 1.6-litre unit produces 121.7PS of max power. Both the mills will come mated with a six-speed manual transmission. However, Maruti Suzuki has not yet confirmed the petrol variants with CVT transmission and AWD system.
Moreover, the company has opened a new Nixa showroom in Delhi that will deal with the mid-premium vehicles. The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and the upcoming S-Cross will be available at the new dealership. The new premium vehicle showroom will also be launched in the other parts of the country soon.
The Maruti Suzuki S-Cross is likely to be priced around Rs. 11 lakh, ex-showroom, and is expected to be launched in the first week of July 2015. When launched, it will give a tough competition to the likes of Renault Duster, Ford EcoSport, Nissan Terrano, Mahindra Scorpio and the upcoming Hyundai Creta (ix25) in the segment.
