Mahindra is all set to launch a refreshed version of the popular XUV5OO SUV in India. According to sources close to the company, the new Mahindra XUV5OO will go on sale starting from May 25, 2015 across the country.
Improvements in the new model come in the form of cosmetic updates, revamped interiors along with some additional creature comfort features.
On the outside, the flagship Mahindra SUV now receives a new bonnet, differently designed grille, resculpted front bumper, new pair of headlamps with integrated day time running lights, new fog lamps and new design alloy wheels.
Inside the car, Mahindra has improved the dashboard by incorporating a new cowl for the centre console and a revised cowl for the instrument binnacle. Expect to see the new model retain all the features and equipment from the outgoing version.
In addition to that, Mahindra may well also offer more new features in the forthcoming XUV5OO facelift. Powertrain in the new XUV5OO will remain unchanged.
The updated version will source power from the same 2.2-litre, turbocharged, four-cylinder diesel engine developing 141PS of maximum power and 330Nm of peak torque. As seen in the previous model, this engine offers excellent driveability while also being relatively light on the pocket with a fuel efficiency figure of 15.1 km/l.
The new XUV5OO will be offered in the same versions as before. At the lower end, there will be a base W4 variant, which would be followed by a mid-level W6 variant.
The fully loaded W8 variant will sit at the top of the range and will be offered in a choice of both front wheel drive and rear wheel drive layout. The base and mid-level variants are only offered as front-wheel drive versions.
The new Mahindra XUV5OO is expected to be priced more or less the same as the earlier version. Currently, the Mahindra XUV5OO’s prices start at Rs. 11.21 lakh and go up to Rs. 15.06 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Competition for the Mahindra XUV
5OO includes the likes of the Tata Safari Storme and the Tata Aria.
