Ford launches personalization packs for the EcoSport in India

Ford’s newly opened VPC is located at the company’s Chennai manufacturing facility in India.

Ford has launched personalization options for the EcoSport compact SUV in India. The company recently inaugurated a new facility, called the Vehicle Personalization Centre (VPC), for the same. The bespoke personalization options offered under this banner will allow Ford EcoSport’s new customers to customize their vehicles without compromising on quality, safety or vehicle warranties, Ford said.

Ford’s newly opened VPC is located at the company’s Chennai manufacturing facility in India. Spread over 35,000 square feet of area, the centre is said to be the first of its kind for Ford in the Asia-Pacific region. At the initial stage, Ford will be offering customization options only on the best-selling car in its portfolio here, the EcoSport. Three different personalization packs are available on the EcoSport, which can be chosen by customers whilst placing the order for the car at the dealership. They are, Spare Wheel (cover) Pack for all variants of EcoSport, Alloys Pack that adds alloy wheels and rear-spoiler for the Ambiente and Trend trim models of the EcoSport, Sports Pack that offers rear-spoiler, LED scuff plate, roof cross-bar for Titanium and Titanium (O) trims.

Prices for the aforementioned packs will differ for different regions across the country. That said, Ford is claiming these packs to be well within the affordable range, and the manufacturer insists these additions will further justify the EcoSport’s value-for-money tag.

To carry out the job, the new VPC centre at Ford’s Chennai facility has 19 ergonomically designed modification bays. Since every modification will be carried within the factory, Ford believes it will be a win-win situation for both customers and dealers in equal measures. This will also lead to less waiting period for desired parts and simplified transactions at dealer’s end, while also eliminating the need to stock these accessories.

Speaking on the occasion, John Cooper, vice-president, Customer Service Division at Ford Asia Pacific said: “Customers today view vehicles as an extension of their own personalities and are keen to customize their cars to stand out from the clutter. Our customers today are socially conscious who don’t compromise and want things done their way. They desire for enhanced levels of personalization to make vehicles look distinctly theirs. Adding to the overall brand ownership experience, we will provide customers peace of mind through premium quality customization options that they can trust without compromising on safety, quality or vehicle warranties.”

Ford will also be offering similar customization options on other models in the range by year end.
