Ford has announced an extended warranty scheme for the Figo hatchback in India. Under the new plan, Figo customers will be able to avail extended warranty on their cars for a period of up to 5 years or 1 lakh kilometers (whichever comes first).
Earlier, the extended warranty could only be bought for a maximum of 4 years (2 year standard+2 year extended). While all car manufacturers offer standard warranty on their products (usually 2 years), a majority of them also offer extended warranty plans for an added sum of money. Buying an extended warranty is recommended since it covers mechanical and electrical failures including labour charges for the repairs. However, it’s worth noticing that extended warranty does not cover regular maintenance services, consumables, wear and tear parts and accident repairs of the vehicle.
Apart from new customers, current owners of the Ford Figo can also purchase this newly announced 5-year extended warranty plan. Although, that needs to be done before the standard warranty of the vehicle runs out. Also, in case there’s a change of ownership, the extended warranty is also transferable.
Additionally, Ford is offering benefits worth Rs 66,000 on the Figo on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya. The discounts include the aforementioned warranty plan, free accessories, exchange bonus as well as after-sale services like pan-India Roadside Assistance, 90-minute quick service bays and mobile service van. The offer, however, can only be availed in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Goa, Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh.
Other Ford models such as the Classic, EcoSport, Fiesta and Endeavour will continue to come with a 4 year extended warranty plan.
