India's wholesale inflation climbs 3.1 per cent in January: Government data

India Wholesale Price Index (WPI) Data 2020: The wholesale inflation which is measured in terms of wholesale price index (WPI) grew 2.59 per cent during the month of December 2019 and it rose to 2.76 per cent in January last year, the data by Ministry of Commerce & Industry showed.

The wholesale price index (WPI) grew 0.58 per cent during the month of November 2019 and by 3.46 per cent in December 2018, the data released by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry showed.

For vegetables, it soared to 36.61 percent last month as against 15.48 percent in September. In case of onions, inflation skyrocketed to 127.04 percent, while for the eggs, meat and fish segment the rate of price rise was 5.76 per cent.
