Sasikala was jailed in February 2017 after the Supreme Court found her guilty in a Rs 66.6 crore disproportionate assets case and sentenced her to four years in prison. She was last granted parole on October 7, 2017, to visit Natarajan when he underwent simultaneous liver and kidney transplants.

Sasikala has been in jail since February this year after the Supreme Court upheld her conviction by a special court in a disproportionate assets case. Her relatives Ilavarasi and V N Sudhakaran are also serving four-year jail terms.

VK Sasikala was formally elevated to the post of General Secretary on December 29 by the AIADMK general council following the death of then party supremo J Jayalalithaa. However, she was convicted in a disproportionate assets case and was sent to the central prison in Bengaluru on February 15.

Earlier on Monday, Dinakaran had told reporters that a section of state ministers had revolted against him due to "some fears", but declined to say what they were. He said he will plan his future course of action after meeting Sasikala and will base his actions on her guidance.
