Varnika Kundu stalking case: Vikas Barala and Ashish Kumar were booked under Indian Penal Code (IPC) Sections 354 D (Stalking), 341 (Wrongful restrain), 365/511 (Attempted abduction) and Section 85 (Drunken driving) of the Motor Vehicles Act on August 5 last year.

The defence counsel also asserted that Kundu, with the help of UT Home Secretary, Anurag Aggarwal, got the District Attorney appointed as Special Public Prosecutor, an assertion that was denied by Kundu.

Opposing the bail plea, the Union Territory Police, in its reply, mentioned that Kumar is already facing an abetment of suicide case in Hisar. The abetment of suicide case pertains to June 2017, wherein Kumar and three others have been accused of harassing a man, identified as Vinay Dhillon.

While the bench ordered Vikas to be released after furnishing of the requisite bail bonds, it observed that the complainant can approach the high court in case of any attempt to influence the trial.
