The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh today sparked a political controversy by deciding to introduce B R Ambedkar's middle name 'Ramji' in all references to him in official correspondence and records.
"To make the state ODF by October 2 next year, 1.55 crore toilets are to be constructed. To achieve the target, 44,000 toilets are to be made everyday," Kumar said while reviewing works done under the Swacch Bharat Mission through video conferencing.
The government is also planning to make 'divyaangjans' more self-reliant. Om Prakash Rajbhar also added that finnacial assistance provided to them could be raised from the existing Rs 30,000 to Rs one lakh. They will also be given battery-operated tricycle and sewing machines.
According to UP Industries Minister Satish Mahana, said the new government policy will seek to simplify procedure for development of fundamental infrastructure and promote establishment of industries in Purvanchal and Bundelkhand regions.
The Centre has asked the Uttar Pradesh government to provide details of the Saharanpur violence and the steps taken to restore peace in the district which has been witnessing inter-caste clashes since April.
