Uttam Kumar Reddy biography

Uttam Kumar Reddy, born on June 20, 1962, is a prominent politician hailing from the Indian state of Telangana. His multifaceted career spans both military service and political leadership.

Reddy was born in Nalgonda district, Andhra Pradesh (now part of Telangana) to parents Purushottam Reddy and Usha Devi. He holds a B.Sc. degree and served as a fighter pilot in the Indian Air Force. His daring flights included commanding the MiG-21 and MiG-23 in front-line fighter squadrons. Later, he assumed the role of Controller of Security, Protocol, Administration, and Foreign Trips at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Reddy’s political journey began in 1999, when he contested the assembly elections and emerged victorious from the Kodad constituency. His subsequent electoral triumphs include winning from the same constituency in the 2004 elections. In 2009, he shifted his focus to the Huzurnagar constituency, where he secured victories in both the 2009 and 2014 elections.

After the formation of Telangana, Uttam Kumar Reddy continued his political ascent. He contested and won the 2018 elections from Huzurnagar. His dedication to public service and consistent electoral successes earned him the distinction of being a five-time MLA from the Congress party.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Uttam Kumar Reddy represented the Nalgonda constituency as a Member of Parliament (MP). His political acumen, combined with his military background, makes him a formidable force in Telangana politics.
