The case was lodged at the district’s Makhi police station Sunday, following a local court’s directives. The complainant is Haripal Singh, husband of Shashi Singh, who was also chargesheeted in the rape case.
Yunus, who used to run a grocery shop, died at his house on August 18. His family had buried his body without getting an autopsy done, and without informing the CBI, which is probing the murder case of the rape victim’s father.
On Saturday evening, the Unnao district administration had exhumed the body of Yunus, who was buried on August 18, amid protests by his family and some local residents who claimed it was against Sharia law.
Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Hasanganj (Unnao), Suraj Kumar Yadav said, “We tried our best to convince the family, but they did not agree. We also called the shahar qazi to convince them, but he too failed in his attempt."
The chargesheet against Sengar and Shashi was filed under IPC sections 120-B (conspiracy), 363 (kidnapping), 366 (kidnapping, abducting or inducing woman to compel her marriage, etc), 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation).
Massive protests were organised across India recently demanding justice for the victims of Kathua and Unnao rape cases. While chilling details of the chargesheet in the Kathua rape case shook the nation, people were angry with Uttar Pradesh's government's inaction against the accused BJP MLA in Unnao rape case. He was later arrested by the CBI after the case was transferred to it.
