Today’s situation is far less grim than in March, after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and when the FAO’s food price index hit an all-time high. Back home, if the monsoon delivers reasonably, as it has, in the remaining part of this month and the next, the benefits would flow to the ensuing rabi crop as well.

The UN Food and Agricultural Organization's (FAO) Food Price Index averaged 154.2 points in June, down from 157.9 in May, 158.4 in April and the record of 159.7 points in March scaled immediately after the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
