Tim Waltz

Born on April 6, 1964, in West Point, Nebraska, Walz has a background that reflects both rural American values and a deep dedication to serving the community. A former high school teacher and National Guard veteran, Walz’s career has been shaped by his experiences in the classroom and on the battlefield.

Before becoming governor, Walz served six terms in the U.S. House of Representatives, representing Minnesota’s 1st Congressional District from 2007 to 2019. During his time in Congress, Walz built a reputation as a moderate Democrat, focusing on bipartisan solutions to issues such as healthcare reform, veterans' benefits, and agriculture. His military background, having served 24 years in the Army National Guard, made him a natural advocate for veterans, and he was instrumental in passing legislation to improve veterans' access to healthcare and educational opportunities.
