Meanwhile, the 'problem tiger' of Rajura in Chandrapur, which has killed five persons till date, continues to dodge three different forest teams that are trying to corner it. From January, three orders have been issued to capture the tiger.

Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (Wildlife) Nitin Kakodkar said the committee has deliberated on various options of areas where the tigress could be released. "No final decision has yet been taken on which area is to be selected," he said.

This is the second tiger death at the rescue centre in 11 days. On the day the tigress was brought to the centre, a male tiger, caught after conflict with humans in the buffer zone of Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve earlier last month, had died.

A press note issued by Seoni Conservator of Forest, P P Titare, said, “Investigation showed that there were marks of a bullock-cart on the spot and no signs of any injury on the tigress’ body and no froth seen oozing out of its mouth. It led to suspicion that the tigress might have died elsewhere."

E1, who was involved in at least one human death in Brahmapuri in Chandrapur district prior to her capture, was released in the core area of MTR in Amravati district. Whitin a week after her release, she attacked a girl at Kekdakheda village outside MTR.

Last month, the human-wildlife conflict in Chandrapur claimed its fourteenth victim with a cowherd being killed in a suspected tiger attack at village Murmadi in Sindewahi tehsil.
