Pachauri was sent on indefinite leave from TERI and its Governing Council, TERI’s highest decision-making body, on February 13, barely three days after he was elevated to the position of executive vice-chairman at the think-tank.
The court said Pachauri has failed to return to India as per schedule from Sharjah, where he had gone to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award on February 16, and there was nothing on record to show that the schedule of the event was changed at the last minute.
Pachauri, who had been at the Head of the Institute since 1982 will be on leave from TERI, TERI Governing Council, and TERI University till this is reviewed by the Governing Council given the subjudice nature of the matter.

New Delhi, Feb10 (ANI): All India Mahila Congress President Shobha Oza on Wednesday slammed The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) for promoting R.K. Pachauri to the post of executive vice-chairman and said that he should be stripped off all the posts till he comes clean. Oza added that Pachauri, who is facing sexual harassment charges, is promoted despite the matter being sub-judice, adding that it shows how seriously harassment is being taken in the country. Oza stressed that it is high time that such issues should be handled strictly.
