Haryana to supply 580 million cubic metres of water to Rajasthan every year

Haryana and Rajasthan signed an MoU to implement the 1994 Yamuna water-sharing agreement, providing 580 MCM of water through a Rs 3,900-crore pipeline project amid concerns over groundwater.

Haryana constructed the portion of SYL canal in its territory. However, Punjab, after the initial phase, stopped the work, leading to a spate of litigations. The apex court had first decreed the suit of Haryana in 2002 asking Punjab to honour its commitments with regard to water sharing in the case.
