DCP Kamaldeep Goyal joined the list of aggrieved on July 3 when he fractured his leg while trying to save himself from a stray dog attack. The incident happened in Sector 4, where he had gone to visit his parents.
The announcement was made when the family members of the victim, Ayush, refused to claim the body of the child, demanding FIR against the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation officials and compensation from the authorities.
The victim, identified as Jagdish Singh Diwan, was here for a month on a Support a Child mission and had gone to visit his friends at Sector 21 for dinner, when the incident happened. Diwan was given 14 injections within two hours at a Sector 22 dispensary.
The Commissioner said that at the moment, apart from sterilisation, the only immediate action they could take after this incident is to identify aggressive stray dogs, isolate them for some time and release them back at the same place.
