The fishermen from Aakkarapettai in Nagapattinam districts were allegedly fishing near Paruthithurai when they were arrested. With this, 65 fishermen from the state have been arrested in the last seven days
The fishermen from Kottaipattinam in Pudukottai district have been taken to Kangesanthurai port, police said. Their boat was also seized for allegedly intruding into Lankan territory and poaching in their zone, police said.
On July 13, seven fishermen from Mandapam near here were arrested by Sri Lankan Navy at Neduntheevu and taken to Kangesanthurai port, for allegedly fishing in the Lankan waters. Retrieval of Katchatheevu, was "only solution" to vexed fishermen's issue.
Rameshwaram (Tamil Nadu), Feb 11 (ANI): The Sri Lankan Navy on Thursday apprehended 11 Indian fishermen and their country boats on charges of trespassing into the territorial waters of Sri Lanka. Sri Lankan Navy said the fishermen were held in the Gulf of Mannar. The Sri Lankan Navy also seized two trawlers.
Rameshwaram, Jan 17 (ANI): The Sri Lankan Navy on Sunday morning arrested three Indian fishermen for allegedly crossing the International Martime Boundary Line. According to sources, their boat was seized and they may be produced in a court for hearing on Monday.
