Exactly a year after the collapse of Shital Fibres owned by industrialist Shital Vij led to the death of 23 labourer and left over 60 injured,a new two-storey building has come up at the same spot.
An inquiry report of the Shital Fibres collapse,which killed 23 labourers and left over 60 injured,was submitted by Jalandhar Divisional Commissioner SR Ladhar to Punjab Chief Secretary Rakesh Singh on Monday
The owner of the collapsed Shital Fibres factory in Jalandhar,Shital Vij,is undergoing psychiatric treatment after a newly constituted board of doctors diagnosed that he was suffering from serious stress and depression.
With the state factories department finding that five more factories of Shital Vij and his son were operating illegally in the city,deputy director has filed complaints against the two in the court of chief judicial magistrate.
Shital Vij,the owner of Shital Fibres,was on Thursday remanded to police custody till April 23. Police had sought remand for a week on the grounds that they were yet to recover the attendance register,which was important to determine the exact number of labourers who had entered the ill fated blanket making factory.
