According to NAB record, in at least three of these cases, the beneficiaries have either voluntarily returned some money or paid the difference to compensate for losses to the state exchequer. Soon after Kargil and just before the1999 coup, Pervez Musharraf praised Shahbaz Sharif again and again and said “(He) is very intelligent and hardworking, he should move to Islamabad as Foreign Minister.”

Shahbaz, however, cannot immediately replace Nawaz Sharif since he isn't a member of the Parliament. In order for him to be elected as the next Prime Minister of Pakistan, he will have to first get elected. In the meantime, an interim prime minister will have to be chosen who will eventually resign once Shehbaz becomes eligible for the post.
