Qureshi, who is on an official visit to the UK, had a telephonic call with Pompeo to discuss bilateral relations and regional peace and security, according to a statement issued by the Foreign Office here.
"India has not come out of its election mindset and the extreme position they had taken to influence their constituency and to keep their vote bank intact. It is still confined in that," Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said.
Qureshi in his letter, wrote to Jaishankar congratulating the former foreign secretary for taking over the Ministry of External Affairs. He assumed charge of the portfolio May 30 as part of PM Modi's cabinet.
