Justice SM Subramaniam gave the direction recently on a petition by R Renganathan, a government school headmaster, seeking to quash the order passed by the Commissioner of Coimbatore Municipal Corporation, transferring him to another school.
The EEOC filed a lawsuit saying that the restaurant franchise violated federal laws when its owner and general manager subjected a class of female employees to sexual harassment. It said such conduct violates the provisions of the Civil Rights Act.
Palamu SP Indrajit Mahatha said no complaint has been filed so far regarding any kind of sexual harassment. “An FIR was earlier registered under murder charges and the police later added molestation charge,” he said.
The complainant, an English (Hons) student, claimed that no one came forward to help her even after she raised an alarm. Although an FIR in the matter was registered at Vasant Vihar police station on February 8, no arrest has been made so far.
The petitioner, before being terminated, was a final-year student of Department of Physics after being admitted to the institute in July 2012. He was expelled from the institute in April 2016 after he was found guilty of sexually harassing a girl student.
