The statement comes after State Energy Minister Saurabh Patel claimed that the “government has given the benefit of saving Rs 21,619 crore to power consumers in the state in the last seven years due to its long-term power-purchase agreement’’.
In the last 1.5 decades, the government had not only doubled the total number of power consumers to 72 lakh, but it has also provided new connections to 8.83 lakh farmers in the state, stated the minister in an release issued here.

Ahmedabad/Mumbai, Feb 21 (ANI): Thousands of fitness enthusiasts took part in a cyclothon in Ahmedabad and people in Mumbai became a part of 'Run for Fun' marathon on Sunday to promote fitness and healthy lifestyle. The event was flagged off by Gujarat Tourism Minister Saurabh Patel at Sabarmati riverfront. Patel said the event aimed at promote cycling as a sport in the city. Participants from all walks of life and across age groups took part in the event. The marathon included two categories; 6.2 miles run and 3.1 miles run, and saw hundreds of participants, including specially-abled people.
