Sanchar Saathi privacy concerns, Pre-installation mandate revoked: According to the order which is now revoked, smartphone manufacturing companies were given 90 days to comply with it on new handsets and for devices already in use it asked manufacturers to deliver the app via over-the-air updates across the country.

The order, issued by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) on November 28, directed smartphone manufacturers and importers to preinstall the Sanchar Saathi applications on new phones, and also on old phones by means of a software update.
